Important Exam Day Guidelines

This is not just an exam — it is a gateway to a career with Indian Railways. A little preparation on the logistics side goes a long way.

Report Early: Arrive at the exam centre at least 30 minutes before the reporting time printed on your admit card. Gates close well before the exam begins.

Carry These Documents: A printed copy of your admit card is mandatory. Carry it along with a valid, original photo ID — such as an Aadhaar card, PAN card, voter ID, passport, or driving licence.

Biometric Verification: Fingerprint and photograph verification will be conducted at the centre. Ensure you are prepared for this process.

What Not to Carry: Electronic devices including mobile phones, smartwatches, Bluetooth earphones, and calculators are strictly prohibited inside the examination hall.

Take a Printout: A digital copy on your phone is not accepted. Carry a physical printout of the admit card without fail.

City Intimation Slip — What Is It and Do You Need It?

Separate from the admit card, RRB also releases a City Intimation Slip approximately 9–10 days before the exam. This slip informs candidates about the city in which their exam centre is located, giving them time to plan travel and accommodation. The city intimation slip has already been released for candidates appearing between 16th and 23rd March 2026. While it is not a replacement for the admit card, it is a useful planning document.

What About the RRB NTPC Undergraduate (UG) Exam?

Candidates who applied for NTPC undergraduate-level posts can breathe easy — the UG exam is a separate cycle. It is expected to be conducted from 12th April 2026 onwards, with hall tickets anticipated around 8th April 2026. Stay tuned to the official RRB portal for updates.
